The opportunity
The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer position is a part of the Global IT Department. Our team currently comprises over 40 IT, software, and data professionals primarily based in Shanghai and Moerdijk. As we expand our IT presence in Moerdijk, we are eager to welcome talented individuals to our team.
Your role
Plan & Implement: Together with the IT team, you plan and implement our Azure cloud environment.
Manage Cloud Services: Configure and manage compute, storage, networking, databases, and other cloud services.
Ensure Stability & Security: Monitor data security and application performance through health checks and performance log monitoring/alerting.
Automate with IaC: Lead the transition to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using scripting languages and tools to automate cloud service deployment, configuration, and management.
Support Data Science and Application Development Teams: Assist in deploying, operating, and maintaining cloud-based business systems and middleware (Nginx, Tomcat, SQL Server, AKS, Apache Airflow).
Optimize Resources: Monitor resource usage, perform capacity planning, and optimize resources to reduce costs and improve performance.
Implement DevOps Best Practices: Work with the software development team to design and implement DevOps strategies, including CI/CD, code review procedures, and automated testing.
Ensure Compliance: Collaborate with the Security and Compliance department to ensure cloud environment security and compliance through regular audits.
Promote Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to a culture of organizational learning by sharing knowledge and promoting (documentation) best practices.
Who are we looking for?
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related engineering field from a technical university.
Experience:
4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure/networks configuration of software development, preferably in Java.
2+ years of experience in the configuration and management of Azure environments.
Skills:
Expertise in Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
Proficiency in scripting languages and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Fluency in both written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves
Experience with development in Java, particularly with common Java CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven, GitLab, Nexus, Harbor).
Proficiency with monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
