Data Engineer
For our Data Science department in Moerdijk, we are looking for a Data Engineer! You will be responsible for integrating various data sources to support analytics and reporting needs. Your role involves working with internal and external data using both Python and tools like ADF, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with the data scientists and IT team.

What will you be doing as a Data Engineer?
You will be at the forefront of our data solutions, ensuring the architecture is optimized and the data pipeline is efficient. You will work on projects such as optimizing our tank container distribution system by designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines. This includes working on ETL processes, implementing data structures, and ensuring data reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will collaborate closely with other Data team members, such as Data Scientists and Data Analysts, to prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling and ensure the data is accessible and reliable. Regularly, you'll be involved in meetings where you discuss the architecture and pipelines, ensuring data is readily available for quick decision-making processes.
We are looking for someone who is fluent in the English language, as you'll be collaborating with international teams and stakeholders. Continuous learning is at the heart of this role, and we offer numerous opportunities for professional growth within the team.
Tasks & responsibilities
Designing, constructing, installing, and maintaining large-scale processing systems and other infrastructure.
Collaborating with data scientists to design and develop data tools and pipelines.
Ensuring data quality and reliability.
Integrating various data sources to support analytics and reporting needs.
Evaluating and integrating big data tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities.
Monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes
What are we looking for in you?
Bachelor or Master education: preferably with a background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant work experience is a significant advantage, but starters are also welcome!
You have:
- proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java,
Scala, or similar.
- knowledge of databases like SQL, NoSQL, and data warehousing
concepts.
- experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and
tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, etc.
- understanding of data modelling and database design.
- familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with version control using tools like Git and creating ci/cd pipelines.
- knowledge of data security and privacy best practices.
- knowledge of packaging models and implementing them in a production environment.You are fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage.
We are looking for someone preferably for 40 hours per week, but 32 to 36 hours is also negotiable.
